Accomplishments for Shannon Law Firm in product liability include the firm's recent case against the makers of the nighttime heartburn drug Propulsid.® On September 4, 2001, Shannon Law Firm began the nation's first trial involving Propulsid.® The firm represented plaintiffs against Janssen Pharmaceutica, Inc., makers of the drug, for failing to warn about serious side effects of the widely-used gastrointestinal drug. On September 27, 2001, the Claiborne County, Mississippi, jury returned a verdict of $100 million in compensatory damages for 10 people injured by this drug.

National Law Journal highlighted this verdict in its 18th spot in the legal publication's "2001 Largest Verdicts" and also spotlighted firm founder James D. Shannon as one of America's Top 10 Lawyers who "stood out" from other attorneys for his work on the first jury verdict involving the drug Propulsid®.

Trials are scheduled in the future in Mississippi for other trial groups.
