Welding Rod (Manganese) Claims Update
(Updated August 9, 2005)
At the present time, Shannon Law Firm is part of a group of attorneys working together on a case set for trial on August 29, 2005, in Cleveland, Ohio. The lead trial lawyers are Richard Scruggs and Don Barrett. The Plaintiff is a 38-year-old employee of Ingalls Shipyard in Pascagoula, Mississippi, who has significant Parkinson's disease from welding. This is the first case that will be tried in the MDL and it is a very important case.
A second trial is set for November 11, 2005, in Cleveland, Ohio. This involves a welder from the Birmingham, Alabama area, who is in his 50's. He too has significant Parkinson's disease from welding. James Shannon of Shannon Law Firm will be one of the lead trial lawyers, along with Jeff Thompson of the Motley Rice Law Firm in Charleston, South Carolina, and others.
Currently, all of the plaintiff and defense firms are focusing their time on these two upcoming trials in Cleveland, Ohio. We are investing a great deal of time, money, and effort in these cases in the MDL. Therefore, we hope to have a good result from our combined efforts for all of our clients.
We still have more screening to do, but for now the focus is on trial preparation. I feel it is best to spend our time this way now for the benefit of all our clients. However, we do intend to complete the screening process this year.
It is very important that Shannon Law Firm clients inform us immediately of any address and telephone number changes so that there will be no delay in receiving updates.
